Current events in Israel are never dull. The same holds true for Israel’s ancient and modern history and vehicular traffic. With respect to current events, this nation’s circumstances seem to grow stranger by the hour as the remaining 99.9% of the world’s population deals with the Jewish remnant gathering here against their wishes. Consider the photo panel above and ask yourself, What’s wrong in these pictures?
The leftmost image was lifted from the Iranian website, Shia-online. We see rifle cross-hairs superimposed over the faces of Benjamin Netanyahu’s children in a recent family photo. (Other photos purportedly showed targeting designs overlaying the faces of the children of other top Israeli officials.) Assassination threats against Israeli minors were apparently deemed appropriate in response to Israel’s recent air strike on Syria that killed a Hezbollah commander.
From the Jerusalem Post, “According to MEMRI, [The Middle East Media Research Institute’s] Jihad and Terrorism Threat Monitor, the report published last week” included the above photograph of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s family. The article quoted Hezbollah Lebanon officials as saying…
it is Hezbollah Lebanon’s right to avenge the blood of Jihad Mughniya [who died in the Israeli attack] with the assassination of one of the sons of the Zionist commanders or senior figures…From now and henceforth, no child of the Zionist commanders…is safe anywhere in the world.
Meanwhile, Mahmoud Zahar, a Hamas leader residing in Gaza, the land famed for its tunneling, weapons smuggling and rocket-launching, calling on Lebanese and Syrian members of the Izaddin Kassam Brigades, Hamas’s armed wing, to launch attacks that would ‘help liberate Palestine.'”
Zahar said, referring to Israel…
our guns are always trained on the enemy
…which begs several questions regarding the effectiveness of the once favored Israeli tactic, Land for Peace. The head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps, Maj.-Gen. Muhammad Ali Jafari said, regarding the incident…
the Jewish state ‘is making its last moves and it knows that it is nearing its end.’
We’ve all heard that before.
The middle photo in the panel above seems even more strange. We find standing and smiling in front the great seal of the United States State Department, Waleed Sharaby, secretary-general of the Egyptian Revolutionary Council and a spokesman for Judges for Egypt, a group reported to have close ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. Sharaby’s delegation also included Gamal Heshmat, a leading member of the Brotherhood, and Abdel Mawgoud al-Dardery, a Brotherhood member who served as a parliamentarian from Luxor.
According to an independent translation of the Arabic caption accompanying the photo’s Twitter caption (everybody has Twitter)…
Sharaby, the Brotherhood-aligned judge, flashed the Islamist group’s popular symbol in his picture at the State Department and wrote in a caption: “Now in the U.S. State Department. Your steadfastness impresses everyone.
One wonders if President Obama found time to drop in on the Brothers and chat? If only the US were as cordial to visitors from Israel.
The third photo above (repeated to the left) is proof that traffic in Lebanon is even stranger than in Jerusalem. Israeli’s on scooters usually leave their flags at home, ride alone and rarely brandish weapons (if you don’t include their horns). Israelis flags include two blue stripes and the star of David while, we learn from Wikipedia regarding the Lebanese Hezbollah flags…
The logo itself is a stylized representation of the Arabic words حزب الله (ḥizbu-llāh) or “Party of God” in Kufic script. The first letter of “Allah” reaches up to grasp a stylized assault rifle… (emphasis added)
The text above the logo reads فإن حزب الله هم الغالبون (fāʾinna ḥizbu llāh hum al-ġālibūn) and means “Then surely the party of Allah are they that shall be triumphant” (Quran 5:56).
How could it be more clear that Israel is surrounded by neighbors who hate Israel more than they value their lives. Why, then, does the UN and Israel’s putative ally, the United States, find Israel to be the culprit in this utterly destabilized region, following John Kerry’s famed and failed peace initiative, for building apartment houses in what the world now calls Palestine (and the Jews, 3000 years ago, knew as Judea and Samaria)?
And if you still doubt the US’s antagonism toward Israel please see, “US consulate to arm Palestinian guards in spite of Israeli law, or, Key US Senators May Boycott Netanyahu Speech to Congress,” only two compelling examples of what is clearly a deeply entrenched and unabashed US enmity for the Jewish state. Since the US has become Israel’s left-handed friend, the Muslim Brotherhood seems more welcome in Washington than Israel.
But the good news is that, this, Israel’s latter day isolation, was foreseen over 2,500 years ago and is predicted to end well. From the Tenach, the 12th Chapter of Zechariah…
And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it.. In that day the LORD will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem… It shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.

The Netanyahu speech was so amazing! I wish we had a leader like him here–he puts ours to shame. We think of you often and keep track of what is going on in your part of the world, although it is often frightening. You are brave, but then you have God on your side. We pray for Israel.

Shalom Cliff, Thank you so much for the wonderful welcome you and Marcia gave me while I visited the most beautiful, amazing place in the world. Dinner was delicious but the fellowship was even better. I enjoy your insights to what is happening in the Land…certainly is different than what we get in the media! I pray for the peace of Jerusalem, the people and the Land. Be blessed, my friends. Christine
I’ll be calling my Senators and urge them to support PM Netanyahu come visit our Congress! I know my two are for it.
My prayers are with you always.
Love,
THE Aunt
Shalom Cliff!
The picture is very frightening… I pray every single night for the peace of Israel. I pray for the IDF also … I’ll pray for PM Netanyahu’s children… Your letter is so filled with facts that truly saddens me. I always pray for you two’s safety also. The email I receive from United for Israel helps me know exactly what I need to pray for along with your letters. That sure was a storm! … Thank you for fantastic video and letter!

Very pertinent points. Thanks, Cliff. “Wake up, America!”
Cliff: My best to you and for Israel; we all do not support what is being said and done here…at all. Jet.
