An Unfortunate Moment for IDF Officer Shalom Eisner and His Victim

“The truth is something that mankind, for some mysterious reason, instinctively dislikes.” (H.L. Mencken) In the case of Senior IDF officer Shalom Eisner, who recently got caught on video smacking an “innocent bike rider” with his M-16, the reasons are not so mysterious. Eisner is a Jew. He is also an Israeli soldier. Israel, with one tenth of one percent of the world’s population and no broad national ambition beyond hoping to exist, is a threat to world peace…

That’s mankind’s story and we’re sticking to it.

Though Eisner has been reprimanded, suspended and may face criminal charges, this is clearly not enough. Given, the gesture was brutal and, from the 2-minute video below, it seems unjustified, but the YouTube caption that accompanies the video has transformed the encounter into a Middle Eastern version of The Killing Fields:

Palestinian and international cyclists were brutally attacked by the Israeli occupation forces on Saturday as they attempted to bike up Route 90…The cyclists were demonstrating against Israeli apartheid policies in the Jordan Valley, which limit Palestinian access to roadways as part of an ongoing campaign of ethnic cleansing against the indigenous Bedouin communities of the Valley.

In just two sentences three myths are amplified, occupation, apartheid and ethnic cleansing, and the reader envisions a bloody military onslaught against Sunday cyclists. Maybe the author hoped you wouldn’t watch?

The bogus characterizations captioning the Eisner video may now assume their place beside the righteousness of the Freedom Flotilla and Iran’s Peaceful Nuclear Program. These Truths, like Holocaust Denial, are patently false and easily confirmed as such but they enjoy broad acceptance from the streets of Alexandria to the Harvard faculty lounge.

The agenda-driven principals who craft and sustain the popular fiction of Israel the Occupier prefer the useful properties of the Swiss Army knife to the keen edge of Truth. Meanwhile, little Israel fights for its existence (and by extension the right of all Jews to exist) and the planet’s remaining billions, as a matter of priorities, shallowness, or a distaste for our troublesome race, have either embraced or ignored the Lie.

But not one is an anti-Semite.

Thanks to a fresh approach to The Jewish Problem, Antisemitism is a thing of the past, replaced, as Caroline Glick has suggested, by Anti-Settlementism. This is a clean, honorable approach to getting the job done. No one opposes Jews (that would be racist), but opposing Jewish “settlements” is modern, noble and not too demanding on one’s soul. See the difference?

Israel, a country with about 1/400th of the Middle East’s land mass, must stop living and building in Judea and Samaria, the undeniable (except among the criminally evil, ignorant or insane) historical homeland of the Jewish people, because of the hardship they’ve lain upon 281 million surrounding Arabs who have proven unable to absorb 4.7 million (the UNRWA number in 2010, having grown from 710,00 in 1950) Palestinian refugees who comprise only 1.7% of the populations of the countries listed above.
